Ingredients:
- 1 cup Nellon puttu flour
- ⅓ cup water (or more as required)
- ⅓ teaspoon salt (or more as required)
- ½ cup fresh grated coconut
- 1 to 3 cups water for steaming
Method:
Take 1 cup Nellon puttu flour in a mixing bowl or pan.
Add ⅓ teaspoon salt (or more as required).
Sprinkle ⅓ cup water all over the flour. The amount of water required will depend on the quality of the rice flour, so you can add it accordingly.
Begin to mix the rice flour with the water using your fingertips.
Pour 2 cups of water into the base vessel of the puttu kudam.
Gently add the puttu flour to the cylindrical vessel until it reaches half the height.
Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of grated coconut and spread evenly.
Add the remaining puttu flour.
Steam the puttu on medium flame until you see steam releasing from the top vents of the cylindrical vessel. Then switch off the flame.
Serve hot.
